¡Me llamo Tárrega!/My name is Tàrrega!
Francisco Tárrega (1852-1909) has been called "the father of the modern guitar". He is the composer of some of the most famous works from the classical guitar repertoire such as Recuerdos del Alhambra and Capricho Arabe. Tárrega also made beautiful arrangements for piano music by Mozart, Chopin and Beethoven.
For this program, I play on a superb instrument made by Germany's most illustrous guitar builder ever, a Richard Jacob Weissgerber from 1946. This instrument fits like a glove to Tárrega's most romantic and colourful music.
Timing: c. 1 hour
Wido Uvin, guitar (Richard Jacob Weissgerber, 1946)
